Ofsted
Ofsted- One word that can fill teachers full of dread! I have spoken to thousands of teachers over the years and many panic about Ofsted. So, I decided to create a bank of resources to enable teachers to prepare for Ofsted and to understand the process. I hope my resources help reduce fear/ anxiety and you will be able to put your focus back on teaching your class.
Remove the word ‘scrutinising’ from your vocabulary. It is far too pressurising!
What is Ofsted?
Just think- 'looking at'
Schools are inspected by OFSTED (Office for Standards in Education).
The government set up OFSTED in 1993. The aim was to inspect and assess the educational standards of schools and colleges in England and Wales.
From September 2019:
-
Ofsted inspections will make a ‘quality of education’ judgement à focus on the school’s curriculum.
-
A few subject departments will have a ‘deep dive’. Any subject could be chosen. Geography may be chosen.
